Beibit Ämirchanuly Schümenow ( Kazakh Бейбіт Әмірханұлы Шүменов , Russian Бейбут Амирханович Шуменов Beibut Amirchanowitsch Schumenow * 19th August 1983 in Shymkent ) is a Kazakh professional boxer and former WBA world champion at light heavyweight.

As an amateur, he won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 22nd Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in 2004 in the Philippines and was thus qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . There he won his first fight against the Pole Aleksy Kuziemski , but already lost his second fight against the Turkish İhsan Yıldırım Tarhan .

Schümenow became a professional boxer in 2007 and achieved several regional titles in the following two years, but failed on August 15, 2009 at the WBA world championship title by losing points to Gabriel Campillo . In the rematch on January 29, 2010, he defeated Campillo by winning points and was the new WBA light heavyweight champion. He defended this title on July 23, 2010 by winning points against Vyacheslav Uselkow .

On January 8, 2011 Schümenow should compete against the WBO world champion Jürgen Brähmer in Schymkent to a title association. However, due to Brähmer's gastrointestinal disease, the fight was canceled four days earlier.

Instead, Schümenow defended his title on January 8, 2011 against substitute opponent William Joppy by knockout in round 6. On July 29, 2011 he defended the title by tKo in round 9 against Danny Santiago. After further victories against Enrique Ornelas and Tamás Kovács, he lost on April 19, 2014 on points against Bernard Hopkins .
