Ossuary

The ossuary is a listed building in Dietwil in the canton of Aargau . The small cemetery chapel is dedicated to Anthony of Padua . It stands north of the parish church of St. Jakobus Major and St. Barbara ; with it and the rectory , it forms a historical group of buildings enclosed by a wall.

When the parish church was rebuilt, the existing chapel was demolished and rebuilt in 1780. It is a simple cube building with an apse that closes with a basket and is covered by a high pitched roof with an onion-shaped lantern . The small altar is modeled on the high altar of the parish church in a traditional rural style. The folk art altarpiece shows Antony of Padua with the baby Jesus. The flanking statues represent Saints Rochus and New Years Eve .
