Beinn Breac ( Gaelic : speckled mountain ) is a mountain on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . The 286 m high elevation is located in a sparsely populated region in the north of the island between Loch Gruinart and the Islay Sound . The nearest town is Ballygrant, 6.5 km to the southeast . Beinn Bhreac is not connected to the island's road network. The closest trail is a dirt track that runs from Craigens Farm along the east bank of Loch Gruinart, connecting various now abandoned settlements.
Surroundings
The area around Beinn Breac used to be farmed. The courtyards are no longer used today. There may be a historic cairn to the southeast .
