Beizhen ( Chinese 北镇市 , Pinyin Běizhèn Shì ) is an independent city in the administrative area of the independent city of Jinzhou in the southwest of Liaoning Province in the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 1,782 km² and has 527,000 inhabitants (end of 2010), of which over 62% are of the Manju nationality .

history

Beizhen was founded in 1907 as "Guangning District" ( Chinese 广宁县 , Pinyin Guǎngníng Xiàn ). Six years later it was renamed "Beizhen". The district of Beizhen was dissolved on June 29, 1989 and re-established as the “Autonomous District of Beizhen of Manju ” ( Chinese 北镇满族自治县 , Pinyin Běizhèn Mǎnzú Zìzhìxiàn ). On March 21, 1995, the Autonomous County of Beizhen was dissolved again and re-established as "City of Beining" ( Chinese 北宁市 , Pinyin Běiníng Shì ). On March 7, 2006, the city of Beining was renamed "City of Beizhen".

Administrative structure

At the community level, the city of Beizhen consists of two street districts , eleven large communities , six communities , a state farm and a prison. These are:

Beizhen street district (北镇街道), seat of the city government;

Greater community Gaoshanzi (高山子镇);

Goubangzi Municipality (沟帮子镇);

Greater community Qingduizi (青堆子镇);

Greater community Zhaotun (赵屯镇);

Greater community Zheng'an (正安镇);

Greater community Zhong'an (中安镇);

Community baojia (鲍家乡);

Datun municipality (大屯乡);

Municipality of Futun (富屯乡);

Guangning Township (广宁乡);

Liujia Township (柳家乡);

Wujia Township (吴家乡);

Xinli State Farm (新立农场);

Gaoshanzi Prison in Liaoning Province and Beizhen City (辽宁省北镇市高山子监狱).
