List of domestic dogs

The Belgian dwarf griffon are three very similar Belgian dog breeds recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 9, Section 3, Standard Nos. 80, 81, 82 ). The only difference between the three breeds is the color, structure and length of the fur. They can all be mated freely, and puppies of all three breeds can appear in one litter.

Races

The three breeds of the Belgian dwarf griffon are:

  • The Griffon Bruxellois ( Brussels Griffon , FCI 80). Wire-haired, with a beard. Red, reddish; a black tinge is permitted on the longer hair hanging on the head.
  • The Griffon Belge ( Belgian Griffon , FCI 81). Wire-haired, with a beard. Black or black with tan . The tan badges must be pure and of a uniform, rich color.
  • The Petit Brabançon ( Brabanter Griffon , FCI 82). Straight-haired; The same colors are allowed as with the other two breeds, plus a black mask.

The breed standard stipulates that a few white hairs on the chest are tolerated in all three breeds, but are not desirable. The ears are small, triangular, and folded forward. The tail and ears used to be docked , but this is now prohibited in most Western European countries.
