Coordinates: 30 ° 27 ′ S , 152 ° 54 ′ E The Bellingen Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 1,600.4 km² and has about 12,700 inhabitants.
Bellingen is located on the east coast of Australia about 520 km north of the metropolis Sydney and 430 km south of Brisbane . The area includes 71 hamlets and hamlets, including Bellingen, Bostobrick, Deer Vale, Dorrigo, North Dorrigo, Gleniffer, Kalang, Megan, Mylestom, Raleigh, Thora and Urunga. The seat of the Shire Council is in the town of Bellingen in the east of the LGA, where about 3,000 people live.

The Bellingen Shire Council has seven members, six councilors and a chairman and mayor who are elected by the residents of the LGA. Bellingen is not divided into districts.
