Demetrius Alexandro Claudio Amadeus Bello Nock (born September 27, 1968 in Sarasota , Florida ) is an American clown who performed at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus from 2001 to 2008 .

Life

Nock comes from a Swiss circus family. His ancestors founded the Swiss Circus Nock in the 18th century , which existed until 2019. His father Eugene Nock Sr. (1934-1999) immigrated to the USA in 1954 and settled in Sarasota. At the age of 3, Bello Nock was part of the Nerveless Nock with his three brothers and other family members on stage and in the arena .

After the Nerveless Nocks, he performed in New York's Big Apple Circus , which in 1999 took up the "Bello and Friends" program. In 2001 he was hired by Feld Entertainment for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. In 2005, Nock was named America's Best Clown by TIME Magazine . In 2007 the annual Ringling tour program was named "The Ultimate Bellobration" after him. In the big show finale, all 98 artists of the circus (as well as the elephants ) appeared with artificial wigs that imitated Bello's trademark, a more than 30 centimeter high red-blonde “hair tower”.

In 2007, Nock designed a new version of the death wheel , in which two counter-rotating single wheels are combined, on which he presents an artistic act together with Nikolas Wallenda .
