Belzebubs is a fictional band created by Finnish comic book artist JP Ahonen . The satirical webcomic about the black metal scene was published in six languages ​​and printed in various metal magazines. A book was published in 2019.

Fictional band history

Originally a trio consisting of Hubbath, Sløth and Izkariot, the band was founded in 2002. The debut album Quis Novit Daemonis Astus was released in 2006 as an in-house production. Then Obesyx joined the band. In 2009 a second self-produced album was released called Moth of Satanas . The band then signed with Døden Records.

Due to some unpredictable events, the band project was put on hold for almost a decade. In 2018 the band was reactivated with drummer Samaël and the group was able to sign with Century Media .

Real band history

Belzebubs is a webcomic by Finnish comic artist JP Ahonen that tells the story of the fictional band Belzebubs. A band was designed based on this.

In June 2018 the single Blackened Call was released. The associated video has been viewed around 1.2 million times to date. The second single Cathedrals Of Mourning followed in early 2019 . Both videos show cartoons of the band in the style of Immortal and Emperor .

On April 26, 2019, the comic band's real debut album was released under the name Pantheon of the Nightside Gods via Century Media. The producer was Dan Swanö . The actual identity of the band members has not yet been revealed.

Music genre

Musically, Belzebubs is a band optically based on Nordic Black Metal, whose musical style is more reminiscent of Melodic Death Metal in the style of At the Gates , older Amon Amarth , Insomnium and Edge of Sanity .
