Ben Berden (born September 29, 1975 in Hasselt ) is a Belgian cyclocross and road cyclist .

Athletic career

Ben Berden won the bronze medal in the junior race at the Cyclocross World Championships in Koksijde in 1994 . In 1996 he became Belgian champion in the U23 class. On the road, he won a stage in the Ronde van Vlaams-Brabant in 1998 and was also able to win the overall standings. At the end of the season he rode for the Palmans-Ideal cycling team and became a professional there the following year. In 2000 he moved to Vlaanderen 2002-Eddy Merckx and Saey-Deschacht Sportgroep . After a forced break due to doping from 2004, Berden started racing again from 2009.

After a race in Essen (Belgium) in 2004 , Berden was convicted of doping with Epo and initially banned for 15 months; After an objection by the World Cycling Federation Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to the International Court of Justice (CAS), the ban was extended by eight months.
