Ben Dodwell

Benjamin "Ben" Philip Dodwell (born April 17, 1972 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian rower who won an Olympic bronze medal in 2000.

Athletic career

The 2.00 m tall Dodwell began his career in the Australian eight . He finished fifth at the Olympic Games in Barcelona . The following year he rowed eighth to fourth place at the 1993 World Championships . In 1994 he switched to the four without a helmsman and took eleventh place at the 1994 World Championships . In 1995 he was also eleventh at the World Championships , this time again with eighth. The following year, the Australian eighth reached sixth place at the Olympic Games in Atlanta .

After a year hiatus, Dodwell returned in 1998 as a member of the Australian four without a helmsman. At the 1998 World Championships , he finished fourth. The following year, Ben Dodwell, Geoffrey Stewart , Boden Hanson and James Stewart won the silver medal at the 1999 World Championships behind the British foursome and ahead of the Italians. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the British won ahead of the Italians, with Stewart, Dodwell, Stewart and Hanson taking bronze medals behind them.

Dodwell rowed for the UTS Haberfield Rowing Club in Sydney.
