Ben Alexander O'Connor (born November 25, 1995 in Perth ) is an Australian cyclist .

Athletic career

O'Connor began his international career with the Australian Continental Team Navitas Satalyst . In 2016 he switched to the Avanti Isowhey Sport team and finished third in the Australian U23 time trial championships. He then won the fourth stage and the overall classification of the New Zealand Cycle Classic for his team and thus his first races on the international calendar. At the Tour de Taiwan 2016 , he was third overall.

In 2017, O'Connor switched to the UCI WorldTeam Dimension Data , for which he won a stage of the Tour of Austria in 2017 and a stage and the junior competition of the Tour of the Alps in 2018 . At the subsequent Giro d'Italia 2018 , his first Grand Tour , he retired on stage 19 after a fall that broke his collarbone in 12th place . At the Giro d'Italia 2019 he finished 32nd in the overall ranking, at the Vuelta in the same year he finished 25th at the 2019 Tour of Austria .
