Ben Plucknett
Ben Plucknett (born April 13, 1954 in Beatrice , † November 17, 2002 in Essex ) was an American discus thrower .
In May 1981 Plucknett improved the discus world record in Modesto to 71.20 m, although he had never been in the top three at the national championships. A second time he improved the world record in Stockholm in July to 72.34 m. Shortly afterwards, the IAAF announced that a doping test at a meeting in New Zealand earlier this year was positive for nortestosterone . For the first time in history, the IAAF subsequently annulled world records and recognized both distances. Plucknett was banned for 18 months. After his suspension, he threw another 71.32 m in Eugene in June 1983 , which is an American record to this day. (As of 2015)
