Ben Whitted

Ben Whitted (* around 1900; † after 1943; also Ben Whittet ) was an American jazz musician ( clarinet , alto saxophone ).

Whitted worked between 1921 and 1943 with Sidney De Paris , Charlie Johnson , Jabbo Smith , Clarence Williams (1927), Eubie Blake (1931), Fats Waller (1934) and as accompanist for the singers Mary Stafford (1921), Bessie Brown , Clara Smith , Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Edith Wilson . In the field of jazz Ben Whitted took part in 18 recording sessions during this time, except for the aforementioned with Katherine Henderson and most recently in 1943 with Noble Sissle . Benny Waters , who also played for Charlie Johnson, lived with Whitted during this time.
