Ben Wyvis was a whiskey distillery in Invergordon , Ross-shire , Scotland , UK .

history

The distillery , which is named after the 1046 m high mountain, opened on June 9, 1965 on the site of the Invergordon Grain Distillery . Between 1879 and 1926 there was already a distillery at Dingwall under the name (from 1893 called Ferintosh ), with which it has nothing in common except for this one. It was closed on November 24, 1976 and demolished in 1977. The two stills can now be found in the Glengyle distillery , which opened on March 25, 2004, after slight modifications .

production

The water for the distillery, which belongs to the Highlands / Northern Highlands region, came from Loch Glass. It had six fermentation tanks ( washbacks ), a wash still (10,000 l) and a spirit still (10,000 l). There are very few bottlings from this distillery.
