Benedict is a small, bowl-shaped impact crater almost in the center of the giant crater Mendeleev near the lunar equator on the back of the moon.
The crater is circular and shows only minor traces of erosion. At the center of its sloping inner walls is a small central crater floor. The albedo of the inner walls of the crater is higher than that of the surrounding area. This indicates a relatively young formation.
