The building Benediktinerstraße 4 is a listed residential building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located on the south side of Benediktinerstraße in the Magdeburg district of Buckau . The building, which is also listed, is adjacent to Benediktinerstraße 5 to the east . The latch runs directly north of the house, between the building and Benediktinerstraße . To the north is the Klosterbergegarten .

Architecture and history

The design for the three- to four-story representative building erected in 1902 comes from Lorf, who also designed the neighboring house at Benediktinerstraße 5. The plastered building is designed in Art Nouveau forms and structured using brick-faced surfaces. There are stucco decorations on the facade . Among other things, snail motifs can be found on the window parapets. The house has a two-axis box bay window and a polygonal corner tower at the northwest corner .

Inside there is a spiral staircase with a wrought iron railing designed in Art Nouveau style.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 82661 .

As the southern end of the Klosterbergegarten, the building is considered significant in terms of urban planning.
