The Benediktschlössl , also Lebzelterhaus , formerly also called Kriossen or Berneggerschlöss , is a residential building originally from the 16th century in the municipality of Hallein in the district of Hallein in the state of Salzburg (Krautgasse 9, in the area of the old town). The house is a listed building .

history

The building contains an older part from the 16th century. The house belonged to the St. Peter monastery and was issued by it. Documented for the first time in 1662 that the house and garden on inheritance to Peter Pachler, bailiff of St. Peter, and his wife Maria Jakobe Faberin was issued. Other owners are Ruepp Riedl (1664), Michael Fuchsberger and his wife Anna Magdalena (1673), Georg Anngerer and Helena Wisenauer (1692), Georg Kreis (1700, a Lebzelter and wax maker). After the death of Marie Elisabeth Khreiss, it passed to her daughter in 1706, then to Johann Michael Rieder (1745) and after 1773 to his heir, in 1822 to Franz Wallner. Since these were all gingerbread makers and wax pullers , a wax bleaching facility had been laid out in the garden and the building was also called the Lebzelterhaus . Around 1840 the house came to the Benedikt family, who still own it today.

Benediktschlössl today

The building was outside the walled urban area of Hallein. It may have been built at the same time as the Augustinian monastery in Hallein in 1683/84, as indicated by its rounded western front. The house consists of the rounded, two-story main building and two equally high wing buildings along Krautgasse. It encloses a courtyard open to the south. On the ground floor there are barrel vaults with stitch caps . Upstairs are simple baroque stucco ceilings; one room is furnished with wall paintings from the 17th century (vertical fields, marbled or filled with grisaille paintings depicting landscapes and shepherd scenes).

The Benediktschlössl is privately owned and cannot be visited.
