Benjamín Noval González (born January 23, 1979 in Mieres , Asturias ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Noval became a professional at Colchon Relax - Fuenlabrada in 2001 . In the three years he drove for the team, he achieved some good results. He finished sixth and ninth in the Tour of Catalonia , twelfth in the Tour of the Basque Country and third in the Spanish Championships. He then moved to US Postal , which has been called the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team since 2005 , and rode in the Tour de France 2005 as a helper for Lance Armstrong .

After the Discovery Team dissolved, Noval moved to Team Astana along with eight drivers . In all of these stations he worked as a helper for his team captains and was able to celebrate a total of five Tour de France victories with them: 2004 and 2005 with Lance Armstrong , 2007, 2009 and 2010 with Alberto Contador . Between 2004 and 2013, Noval competed seven times in the Tour and four times in the Vuelta a España . In 2011, he and Contador signed a contract with Team Saxo Bank to be a team driver there too. Noval began his 2012 season in February with the Mediterranean Tour , which he completed in 49th place.

At the end of the 2013 season he ended his career as a professional cyclist.
