Benjamin-Octave Roland-Gosselin (born December 17, 1870 in Paris , † May 22, 1952 in Versailles ) was a French bishop.

Origin and life

Roland-Gosselin's father was a stockbroker. One brother was also a priest and one sister was a nun.

On October 1, 1890, Benjamin-Octave Roland-Goesselin was admitted to the Issy seminary.

On December 22, 1891, François-Marie-Benjamin Richard de la Vergne , Archbishop of Paris , ordained Roland-Gosselin in Saint-Sulpice as a deacon. On December 21, 1892, Paul-François-Marie de Forges , former auxiliary bishop in Rennes , ordained him as a priest in Saint-Sulpice. On July 3, 1919, Pope Benedict XV appointed him auxiliary bishop in Paris and titular bishop of Mosynopolis . On August 12, Léon-Adolphe Amette , Archbishop of Paris, consecrated him as bishop in the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral . Co- consecrators were Jean Victor Émile Chesnelong , Archbishop of Sens , and Charles-Henri-Célestin Gibier , Bishop of Versailles . On March 12, 1926, Pope Pius XI appointed him coadjutor bishop of Versailles. He was introduced to this office on April 4, 1926. When Gibier died on April 3, 1931, he succeeded him as Bishop of Versailles. He was instituted as bishop on April 22, 1931. Pope Pius XII accepted his resignation on April 12, 1952 and appointed him titular bishop of Sigus . On April 23, 1952, he made him titular Archbishop of Laodicea in Syria . After his death he was buried in the Saint-Louis Cathedral.
