Benjamin Frobisher (* 1742 probably in Halifax , England ; † April 24, 1787 in Montreal , Québec , Canada ) was a Canadian fur trader.

Frobisher was born in England to Joseph Frobisher and Rachel Hargrave and emigrated to Canada around 1763. Two of his brothers emigrated with him to Canada and all three were involved in the fur trade and its expansion into the north-west.

In 1770 the three brothers went on a successful fur trade expedition with Richard Dobie that took them up the Saskatchewan River to beyond Fort Bourbon near the source of the river. Further profitable expeditions followed and in 1779 the Frobishers founded a company with sixteen shares in the North West Company .

At the time of Benjamin Frobisher's death, northwestern Canada began to become the main region for the fur trade, and the North West Company controlled the region's trade almost entirely.
