Benjamin Klein

Benjamin Klein (* 1943 in New York City ) is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles . He is primarily concerned with cartels and monopolies and is a director at LECG Corporation .

Life

Klein studied philosophy at the City University of New York , where he received a Bachelor of Arts with cum laude in 1964 . He then moved to the University of Chicago , where Klein received a Masters in 1966 and a Ph.D. in 1970. in economics. From 1971 to 1977 he worked in the National Bureau of Economic Research in New York. Klein has been working at the University of California, Los Angeles since 1968. First as a lecturer until 1973, then as an associate professor until 1978 and then until 2002 as a full professor. He was also the director of a joint degree program in law and economics , and later deputy president at the business faculty. In 1973 and 1975 he was also an advisor to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System . From 1976 he worked several times as a consultant for the Federal Trade Commission , most recently from 2001 to 2007. In 1979 he was visiting professor at the University of Washington . In 1988 Klein advised the New Zealand Department of the Treasury and in 1994 the United States Department of Justice in the Antitrust Department . In 2002 Benjamin Klein retired. Since 2004 he has been director at LECG.

Benjamin Klein has been with the Journal of Law, Economics & Organization since 1985 , with the Supreme Court Economic Review and the Journal of the Economics of Business since 1992 , with Managerial and Decision Economics since 1994 and with the Antitrust Law Journal since 1997 . He was also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Journal of Corporate Finance from 1993 to 2001 and of the New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics and the Law from 1995 to 1998 .
