The Bennett Platform ( English ) is a table mountain-like high plateau in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains , it extends immediately east of Mount Black on the western flank of the Shackleton Glacier over a length of 8 km and a width of 4 km.
It was discovered and photographed during overflights on February 16, 1947 during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them after Floyd Bennett (1890-1928), co-pilot in Richard Evelyn Byrd's failed attempt in May 1926 to reach the North Pole by plane.
