Benno Ennker
Benno Ennker (born September 12, 1944 in Nordhausen ) is a German Eastern European historian with lectureships at the University of St. Gallen and at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .
Benno Ennker did not complete his first studies at the University of Göttingen after completing his Abitur in 1965 . From the beginning of the 1970s he was politically active in the Maoist Communist Bund Göttingen , from which the Communist Bund West Germany (KBW) emerged in 1973 . Ennker took a leading role in the program discussion and was a member of the Central Committee for a time and was a substitute member of the KBW's standing committee.
After ending his political career, Ennker began a new course in history in 1982 with a focus on Eastern European history , which he completed in 1987. In 1994 he received his doctorate from the University of Tübingen with a thesis on The Beginnings of the Lenin Cult, Causes and Development in the Soviet Union in the Twenties , which was published in 1997.
Benno Ennker's research focuses on Soviet history , political culture in Russia and leadership cults .
He is married to the historian Bianka Pietrow-Ennker .
