Benno Schwabe (born July 21, 1841 in Rostock , † October 21, 1907 in Arlesheim ) was a German - Swiss publisher .

Benno Schwabe, son of a porcelain painter , did a commercial apprenticeship in Frankfurt am Main . He then worked as a bookseller in Tübingen and Aarau . In 1868 he took over the Schweighauser'sche publishing bookstore and printing company in Basel , which he gave a predominantly literary-scientific orientation (today Schwabe AG ).

Schwabe was naturalized in Basel in 1891.
