Benoît Sauvageau

Benoît Sauvageau (born November 22, 1963 in Charlemagne , Québec , † August 28, 2006 ) was a Canadian politician of the Bloc Québécois .

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and later worked as a lecturer in the humanities and constitutional history. On October 25, 1993 he was elected to the House of Commons for the first time and initially represented the constituency of Terrebonne (Québec) and then from his re-election on June 2, 1997 until his death, the constituency of Repentigny. He was last re-elected on January 23, 2006.

During his membership in parliament he held various functions, so from January 2003 to August 2004 he was Deputy Whip of his parliamentary group. He was also a member of various committees and sub-committees. Since the June 28, 2004 election, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Audit Committee. Benoît Sauvageau, who died in an accident, left a wife and four children.
