The von Benoit family is originally from Champrond in the Dauphiné , has held the citizenship rights of the city of Bern since 1655 and is a member of the Pfistern company .

history

The family came to Geneva with the doctor Georg Benoit (1546–1596) . His son Jean Benoit (1585–1664) was professor of philosophy in Lausanne and Saumur. His eldest brother Pierre Benoit (1576–1623) was a pharmacist in Geneva. His son Georg Benoit (1612–1672), in turn, was Feldscher in the von Wattenwyl regiment, and later appointed city doctor in Bern. In 1655 he was given citizenship rights by the city of Bern as a gift. This made her one of the families of Bern capable of regimentation .

Members of the family branch owned the so-called Landhof in Bern, the so-called Stock in Ittigen, the house at Münstergasse 28 in Bern and an estate in Vignolo near Stresa.
