Observer TV is a cross-media TV series by Swiss radio and television in cooperation with the magazine Der Schweizerische Beobachter .

The series is a coaching format. Together with presenter Jürg Keim, consultants from the magazine Beobachter will accompany and support participants in the program in overcoming problems.

The topic of “start-ups” was dealt with in the first season. People from Switzerland who wanted to set up their own business idea and needed help were shown. In the second season, the focus was on “Better living” and dealt with topics such as looking for an apartment, selling a house or messie tenants. In later seasons, topics such as raising children or debt restructuring will be dealt with in the same way.

Episodes and broadcast dates

Season 1 and Season 2 comprise a total of 16 episodes. The program was first broadcast on February 20, 2013 and shown weekly on SRF 1 and SRF Zwei, as well as repeated on the information channel SRF info . Season 2 started on September 25, 2013 and, like season 1, will be broadcast on both SRF channels. Season 3 started on April 13, 2014. Season 4 premiered on November 8, 2014. Seasons 5/6 are in preparation.

Cross-media

The program is accompanied by its own webpage. It offers further links, additional information and service packages for download. All episodes are available online in a broadcast archive on Watchertv.ch and the SRF player. Facebook is used in the social media area. At the start of the program in mid-February 2013, the magazine published the title topic "I am the boss" in its print edition and reported on the program.

Moderation

The first season of Observer TV was moderated by Roland Luder , who worked on Swiss television for the daily magazine program “ Schweiz aktuell ” until the end of 2009 .
From season 2, observer expert Jürg Keim will moderate the show.

Background information

For an episode of Observer TV with a length of 28 minutes, 10 to 15 hours of material are filmed on approximately six days of shooting. In total, more than 20 people are involved in the production. The episodes of a season are produced in parallel. The docusoap genre was replaced from season 2 by elements of the report and the focus was more on advisory aspects and coaching.
The project is the first collaboration between Swiss public television and a private publishing house (Axel Springer Switzerland) that takes place outside of the PresseTV program window operated by a publishing association .
