Berchtold Zimmermann

Berchtold Zimmermann (born before 1480; died after 1504) was a Swiss monk and librarian at the St. Gallen monastery .

Zimmermann is proven as lord of the convent as early as 1480. He was one of the professed under Abbot Gotthard Giel von Glattburg , who died in 1504. In 1504 he was one of the conventuals who elected Franz von Gaisberg as the new abbot . As custodian , he received the library keys from him along with instructions for the librarianship:

"Frater Berchtoldus Zimmermann should have a key to the liberi, and the Supprior or Subdechan ( Gallus head ) can be helped that the books ..."

Zimmermann took part in the canonization of St. Notker in 1514 . He died on a September 8th.
