from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gallus Kopf († July 3, 1519 ) was the librarian of the St. Gallen monastery .

Kopf was one of the professed in St. Gallen under Abbot Gotthard Giel von Glattburg , who died in 1504. In 1504 he was one of the conventuals who elected Franz von Gaisberg as the new abbot. In 1506 he appointed him subdean. His office was that of the disciplinarian. He was supposed to encourage students to study and to good discipline, to protect them from drunkenness and all frivolity, as often as necessary, to rehearse them and to warn them to support the cellar master in looking after the dining room.

From 1505 he was in charge of the monastery library. Gallus Kopf took part in the canonization of St. Notker in 1514 .
