Berg is part of the village of Niederzier in the municipality of the same name in the Düren district . It is located on Landesstraße 12 between Krauthausen and Niederzier-Mitte.

history

On October 20, 871, King Ludwig the German confirmed that the Prüm monastery owned a manor in "villa Berga". In connection with other documents such as the Prümer Urbar from 893, it is beyond doubt that this is the hamlet of Berg. This is the oldest documented mention of a district in the Niederzier community.

From 1961 to 1971 the postcode was "5161 Berg (via Düren)", from 1972 to 1993 "5162 Niederzier", since then "52382 Niederzier".

traffic

The next junction on the federal motorway 4 is “Düren”. In the latter location, there is a connection to the federal highway 56 via the state road 12 leading from Niederzier to Pier .

There is a rail connection at Düren station via the high-speed line Cologne – Aachen and in neighboring Krauthausen on the Jülich – Düren railway line . This is served by the Düren district railway every half hour on weekdays and every hour on weekends. On the part of Busverkehr Rheinland , Berg starts twice in the morning on school days with buses going to Düren. In addition, individual buses on line 108 are used on weekdays by means of the amplifier trip.

Architectural monuments

The chapel from the beginning of the 20th century, located on the main road, opposite the houses Berg 1 and 33, has been a listed building since 1986.
