Berg is a district of the market in Ruhstorf an der Rott in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .

Berg is located 1.5 kilometers northeast of Reutern am Schwarzenbach near the larger town of Schmidham . The parish church of St. Maria Himmelfahrt , located on a hill, catches the eye from afar .

"Perg" is mentioned for the first time in 1474 as chairman of the Reutern office.

The church was a branch church of the mother church in Reutern. In 1802 the Berg branch counted 509 people. A school in Berg is also mentioned for the first time in the same year. In 1824 a new schoolhouse was built. On August 30, 1833, Bishop Riccabona was on a visitation . In 1875, Berg became an exhibition reader and in the same year received its own parsonage, and in 1878 it was raised to the status of a benefice and in 1899 to a parish . In 1901 there was a popular mission by Capuchins , in 1922, 1934, 1950 and 1978 popular missions were held again. In 1989 the parish of Berg, which in addition to Berg also includes Schmidham and several other localities, had 748 members.

1699 is the first time a Sebastiani - Brotherhood testified in Berg, a lay movement that exists today. In 1903 the "Veteranenverein Berg" was founded, today's warrior and soldier comradeship. In 1949/50 the school building was significantly rebuilt. Politically, Berg belonged to the Schmidham community, formed in 1818, until Schmidham was incorporated into Ruhstorf in 1972.

Attractions

Construction of the present stately wall pillar church began as early as 1480 . The date 1485 is on the late Gothic sacristy door. The interior of the church changed several times, from 1884 the baroque interior was replaced by a neo-Gothic interior, which still characterizes the interior today.
