Stralsund Mining Authority

The Stralsund Mining Authority is the specialist authority for mining law in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is based in Stralsund and was founded in 1990.

As the upper mining authority , the Mining Authority is subordinate to the Ministry for Energy, Infrastructure and Digitization Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . According to the Federal Mining Act, it is responsible for all mining permits and operating plan procedures in the country as well as in the associated continental shelf and territorial sea . Stones and earth form the major part of the mineral resources mined in the country. In addition, there is the production of crude oil and natural gas to a lesser extent .

As a hearing and plan approval authority, the Mining Authority is responsible not only for mining law but also for energy law plan approval procedures. This includes the extraction of geothermal energy , the construction and operation of underground storage facilities and the construction of high-pressure gas pipelines in accordance with the Energy Industry Act .
