Iván Miranda Chang (born March 8, 1980 in Lima ) is a former Peruvian tennis player .

biography

His highest place in the ATP ranking was position 104 on July 14, 2003. He was already national champion in the men. At the Juegos Bolivarianos (Games in honor of Simón Bolívar ) 1997 in Arequipa Miranda won a silver medal in singles and a gold medal in doubles.

In 2000 he won his first tournament in the Future category. It took place in Lima . The following year he won the tournament in Boca Raton against the Venezuelan José de Armas . In January 2002 he won the tournament at Hallandale Beach . Two months later he secured his first challenger title in Salinas , Ecuador. In the final he defeated Ricardo Mello . At the Challengers in Birmingham (out against Alex Kim ), San Antonio (out against Mardy Fish ) and São Paulo (out against Luis Horna ) he reached the semifinals. In the Brazilian challenge tournament Gramado he only had to admit defeat to Júlio Silva in the final. In the same year he was also able to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time . At the French Open , however, he failed in the first round to Sjeng Schalken .

2003 Miranda was able to reach the final of Salinas for the second time, but lost to Giovanni Lapentti . In Andorra he was able to reach the semi-finals (out against Yeu-tzuoo Wang ). He also made it to the semi-finals in doubles in St. Jean de Luz (with Paul Baccanello ) and Bermuda (with Dušan Vemić ). In 2004 he only reached the semi-finals at the Manta Challenger Tournament . Together with Ricardo Mello, he won doubles at the Campos do Jordão tournament . A week later he reached the final of Belo Horizonte with Mello's compatriot Marcos Daniel . There they lost to the twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana .

In 2005 he had to admit defeat in the final of the Futures in de Armas and in the semifinals of Colombia F6 Santiago Giraldo . In 2006 he won three futures. He was in the final of three others. In 2007 Miranda won the Peruvian tennis championship for the second time after 2001 by beating Mauricio Echazú in the final . In 2011 he played tournaments regularly for the last time.

He played for the Peruvian Davis Cup team and has a record of 27:34 in 31 matches.
