The mining and local history museum in Erbendorf in the town of Erbendorf in the Tirschenreuth district in Upper Palatinate is housed in a former monastery. It deals with the history of Erbendorf and the economic importance of earlier mining in the city.

The museum was founded in 1995 on the initiative of the Heimatpflegeverein Erbendorf e. V. opened.

subjects

Geology, mineralogy and mining

Finds from the regional lead and coal mines as well as an extensive mineral collection are exhibited in five rooms. These are exclusively finds from the region in which mining used to play an important role. There is also equipment belonging to the miners on display.

Extinct professions

In this area, tools from the Erbendorf weavers , tanners and shoemakers are presented. There is also information about the production of gas burners , glass beads and Christmas tree decorations , all goods that were previously important for Erbendorf.

The Erbendorfer Bockl

The "Erbendorfer Bockl" operated on the Reuth – Erbendorf railway line with a connection to the north-south line from Munich to Berlin. The museum displays information and contemporary items.

Special exhibits such as B. antique furniture , figures of saints or a stove from the Wilhelminian era complete the museum's offering.
