The Berghaus Hintisberg , referred to on the map as Berghaus Oberläger , is located at 1782  m above sea level. M. above the Lütschental between Interlaken and Grindelwald in the Jungfrau region in the Bernese Oberland , in the Swiss Alps . The Berghaus is the starting point for mountain hikes, climbing routes and mountain bike tours. It is open in the summer months from June to October.

history

The Berghaus was built as accommodation for the workers who built avalanche barriers on the steep slopes above the Lütschental from 1980 . In 28 years, a total of 5.8 kilometers of supporting structures were built to protect the Lütschental and its residents from avalanches . After this construction work was completed, the house was converted into a restaurant with guest rooms. Since 2009 it has been run as a mountain house by the municipality of Lütschental in the summer months .

nature

The Hintisberg mountain area is rich in protected flowers and alpine herbs. A variety of rare butterflies can be found in the summer months. Numerous native animals live here such as golden eagles and marmots . The Berghaus offers a view of the Eiger , Mönch and Jungfrau .

Alpine climbing

There are several alpine climbing routes at the top of the Burg (2241 m), above the Hintisberg mountain hut . The starting height for the multi-pitch routes (6 SL) is 2060 m. The routes with a level of difficulty of 5c + demand maximum physical strength and stamina from the climbers .

Transport links

The Berghaus can be reached by car. It can be reached on foot in several hours from the Lütschental or Burglauenen train stations via hiking trails. It can also be reached from Schynige Platte after several hours of descent.
