Burglauenen (896 m above sea level ) is a village in the Bernese Oberland ( Switzerland ) and belongs to the municipality of Grindelwald . Burglauenen is five kilometers northwest of the center of Grindelwald on the road and railway line from Grindelwald to Interlaken .
Infrastructure
Burglauenen has a stop for the Bernese Oberland Railways . The school had to be closed due to the low number of students. The school building now serves as a kindergarten.
legend
According to legend, the place of Schillingsdorf is said to have been at the site of today's Burglauenen. As punishment for the fact that its inhabitants refused to shelter a dwarf during a storm, the entire place was buried in a rock fall. A single house was spared, the residents of which were well disposed towards the dwarf. The rock breaking point to which the legend relates can still be seen today.
