The Bernese Oberland Railways AG ( BOB ), based in Interlaken is a company incorporated on November 2, 1888, but only in the context of financial recovery after the Second World War into the commercial register Swiss narrow gauge railway -Gesellschaft in the Bernese Oberland . She operates

Both railways have been electrified with 1500 volts direct current since 1914.

Corporate structure

In 2000, BOB (33% stake) and Jungfraubahn Holding (JBH, 67% stake) founded Jungfraubahnen Management AG as a joint operating company.

Since the takeover of the Schynige Platte Railway (SPB) in 1895, the Berner Oberland Railway has kept separate statistics for its two railway lines. The share capital of Berner Oberland-Bahnen AG is divided into 123,410 bearer shares with a nominal value of 100 francs. Because the BOB are active in public transport , the federal government and canton have acquired a majority of the shares. Hold significant stakes in Berner Oberland-Bahnen AG:

  • Swiss Confederation, 36%
  • Canton of Bern, 34%
  • Rolly Fly SA Holding, Chur, 11% (owned by Rolf Georg, in turn owner of Georg Verkehrsorganization )
  • Jungfraubahn Holding AG, Interlaken, 8%

In 2017 the Bernese Oberland Railway counted 3.243 million and the Schynige Platte Railway around 240,000 passengers. The company thus achieved an operating income of CHF 40.015 million.
