The Bergscheffel was a German volume measure for wood and hard coal and was used in many regions. This bushel was found in mining and charcoal burning in Saxony-Gotha , Berlin , Silesia , Mecklenburg (brown coal) and other regions. The bushel for grain has been adjusted accordingly.
- Charcoal 1 Bergscheffel (Sachsen-Gotha) = 2026.8816 Parisian cubic inches = 40.206 liters
- Hard coal 1 Bergscheffel (Gothaer) = 2027 Parisian cubic inches = 40.21 liters = 0.7526 Bergscheffel (Berliner)
- Hard coal 1 Bergscheffel ( Manebacher ) = 39.515 liters
- 1 Bergscheffel (Silesian) = 1 bushel plus 6 ¼ Metzen (Berliner)
- 1 Bergscheffel (Mecklenburg) = around 150 pounds
