The Berker GmbH & Co. KG is a German company based in Schalksmühle . The company has other locations in Ottfingen near Olpe and in Karlsruhe . Today the company manufactures the following products:

Together with other manufacturers, Berker introduced the European installation bus EIB as the standard.

Together with the companies Gira and Jung , Berker founded the INSTA subsidiary in 1970, based in Lüdenscheid . INSTA develops and manufactures KNX / EIB components and electronic components for installation technology such as B. dimmers , motion detectors , radio controls and electronic transformers also DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) devices. Another major branch is the manufacture of LED lamps.

Alongside Busch-Jaeger , Gira , Jung , Merten and Siemens, Berker is one of the largest German manufacturers of electrical installation material and KNX / EIB products.

In 2010 the Berker company was taken over by the Hager Group and withdrew from the INSTA joint venture. New flush-mounted modules for electronic switches were announced for 2013 ("BERKER.NET"), which are no longer based on INSTA technology (e.g. Berker BLC), but on Hager technology.
