history

In 1955, Oswald Hager and Hermann Hager (1928–2014) and their father Peter Hager founded the Hager oHG, electrical engineering factory in Ensheim . The Saarland had been economically attached to France since 1945 and the German market was inaccessible. Nevertheless, Hager wanted to gain a foothold in these two markets.

In 1959 the Hagers founded Hager Electro SA in Obernai, Alsace, as the first foreign subsidiary. From 1966, Hager systematically trained electrical installers; this resulted in a culture of customer loyalty through useful information. In 1968 the Hager modular safety element was registered for a patent in Germany, and in 1970 in France as well. At the same time, the first mass-produced installation distributor , the “Hager Rapid System”, appears on the French market. In 1973 Hager achieved sales of DM 43 million in Germany ; 1974 in France a turnover of 22 million francs .

In 1976, Hager launched the Gamma small distributor on the market. From 1982 residual current circuit breakers were produced. A new production facility with a high-bay warehouse was established in Blieskastel . In the 1980s, the Hager Group began to focus as a full service provider for electrical installation in buildings. Sales companies were founded in Europe ( Switzerland , Great Britain ). Since the mid-1990s, Hager has built up sales channels in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Australia and New Zealand.

In 1996 the Hager Group acquired Ebo Systems .

In 2005, Hager took over Tolmega , a French specialist in cable trays and cable ladders for gratings , and the Italian STS Elettronica S. p. A. , a security products company.

In 2007 the Hager Group became a European company .

Ebo Systems was sold together with Cable Tray Systems (CTS) and Tolmega in 2010 to the German family group Niedax.

Locations

The Hager Group produces at 22 locations in ten countries worldwide. Components for the respective markets are manufactured in the production facilities in order to take account of local installation habits. The largest production site is now in Obernai. Corporate structure

In 1992 the group acquired Lumetal in Porcia, a manufacturer of distribution cabinets in Italy .

Among other things, electronic time switches were produced there; previously, Hager only built mechanical time switches. In the same year the British company Ashley & Rock in Ulverston , which manufactured products according to British standards, was taken over .

In 2002, the Polish company Polo , based in Tychy, was integrated.

The Schweizer Weber AG has been part of the Hager Group since 2004 . In the same year, the Hager Group bought the French manufacturer Atral . In addition to security technology from the Hager brand, products under the Diagral and Daitem brands are also manufactured here.

In 2006, Hager took over all of the shares in Eletromar and thus became active in Brazil. In 2008, a Hager Group plant in Pune, India went into operation. On September 30th of the same year the foundation stone was laid for a new Eletromar production facility in Brazil.

With effect from January 1, 2009, Hager took over all shares in Electraplan Solutions GmbH .

In 2010, Hager took over Berker , a German switch manufacturer based in Schalksmühle and Ottfingen, and in 2018, E3 / DC GmbH, a German development company for inverters and energy storage systems.

Solutions and services for electrotechnical installations in residential, industrial and commercial properties are sold under the “Hager” brand. In 2009 the previous brands Tehalit, Weber, Lume, Klik, Flash, Polo, Ashley and Logisty were merged under the Hager brand.
