Bernard Józef Gaida (born September 10, 1958 in Guttentag , Poland ) is an entrepreneur and politician of the German minority in Poland . Since 2009 he has been chairman of the Association of German Social-Cultural Societies in Poland (VDG), and since 2016 spokesman for the Working Group of German Minorities .

Live and act

After attending the Lyceum in Guttentag, Gaida studied in Poznan at the Faculty of Wood Technology (Natural Science University) and at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology ( Adam Mickiewicz University ). Gaida is the founder of the companies AUH Gaber and Gaber Plus.

Since 1990 he has been active in the Social-Cultural Society of Germans in Opole Silesia (SKGD) and in the administration of Guttentag. In 1993, Gaida co-founded the local magazine Echo Dobrodzienia i Okolic . In 2004 Gaida was awarded the Silver Rose of the City of Guttentag. In 2007 he was elected Vice Chairman of the SKGD.

On May 11, 2009, Gaida was elected chairman of the Association of German Social-Cultural Societies in Poland (VDG) and replaced Henryk Kroll . In 2011 Gaida was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland . On December 7, 2013, Bernard Gaida was re-elected as chairman of the VDG.

On June 20, 2015, Bernard Gaida and Ryszard Galla received the Federal Cross of Merit at the German Embassy in Warsaw.

On November 9, 2016, Gaida was elected spokesman for the Working Group of German Minorities (ADGM) in Berlin. On May 19, 2018, Gaida was elected chairman of the VDG for the third time.
