Bernard Hebb

Bernard Hebb (* 1941 in Massachusetts , USA ) is a classical guitarist, professor of classical guitar and composer .

Life

Hebb began studying guitar in Massachusetts with Francis LaPierre. Then he continued it at the Vienna Music Academy with Professor Karl Scheit and graduated there in 1969 with the soloist diploma for guitar.

Hebb taught classical guitar as a lecturer for several years, first at the Hamburg Conservatory and then at the Bremen Conservatory. In 1980 he was appointed professor at the Bremen University of the Arts (formerly the Bremen University of Art and Design), where he significantly established the guitar department. His students included u. a. Professor Bernd Ahlert , Katja Bergström, Ulrich Busch, Reed Desrosiers, Duo Stoyanova, Oliver Eidam, Boyan Karanjuloff, Ulf Kröger, Dušan Oravec, Ki-Bum Park, Uwe Raschen, Leandro Riva and Ralf Winkelmann.

Among other things, he is a co-founder of the Zevener Guitar Week and a member of the jury of international festivals, where he also teaches master classes. Hebb supplemented his educational activities with concerts that took him through Europe, the USA and as far as Australia. He has given concerts both as a soloist and with duo partners (guitar, harpsichord, flute, violoncello).

For his services, Bernard Hebb received, among other things, the Golden Decoration of Honor in 1973 from the Association of Workers' Music Associations Austria (VAMÖ), the Pakhus Prize from the Århus Art Academy Denmark (2002), the Silver Medal of Honor from the City of Zeven (2005), and he has been since 2006 registered in the “ Who's Who ”, USA.
