Bernard Herzbrun

Bernard Herzbrun (born January 10, 1891 in New York City , † January 7, 1964 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and production designer , who at the Academy Awards in 1939 for the Oscar for best production design for the film Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938) was nominated.

Life

Herzbrun began his career as art director and production designer in 1930 for the film Seven Days's Leave from Paramount Pictures and then moved to 20th Century Fox in 1937 . After leaving 20th Century Fox in 1939, he worked for numerous film production companies such as RKO Pictures until 1940 , before he was head of the art department at Universal Studios from 1940 to 1955 , where he worked with Nathan Juran , among others .

In the course of his 25 years in the film industry, he worked on the equipment of over 280 films.

At the Academy Awards in 1939 he was nominated together with Boris Leven for the Oscar for best production design in the film Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938).
