Bernard Maraval (born September 30, 1971 in Montpellier ) is a former French football player .

Career

Maraval moved up in 1991 together with his defensive colleague Nicolas Weber and a few other players in the first team of FC Sochaux . However, he did not play a single game for the first division team in his first season. Although the obligations of André Blanc and Bertrand Piton in 1992 brought additional rivals to the team, Maraval made his professional debut in his second season and played a total of five top division games. Although he was able to increase to 14 missions in the following season, he asked for a loan deal in 1994. As a result, he ran from 1994 to 1995 for the first division promoted SC Bastia , even if he could not establish himself there in the team. Meanwhile, the FC Sochaux was relegated to the second division, so that Maraval sought promotion after his return with the team. He became a regular player, but had to accept that the promotion clearly failed. The rise achieved in 1998 was followed by direct relegation. The diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the hip meant the de facto end of his career and meant that Maraval missed the entire 2000/01 season, in which the team was second division champions. After promotion, he came to a single first division game when he was substituted on in the 3-0 draw against SC Bastia on February 16, 2002 in the 68th minute. In the same year he ended his career at the age of 30.

After the active career

Following the end of his career, Maraval began studying marketing and sports management in Rouen . In 2009 he also took over the presidency of an organization for former FC Sochaux players. In 2012 he was hired by him as a scout for the youth department.
