Bertrand Piton (born August 19, 1970 in Besançon ) is a former French football player .

Career

Piton started playing football in Baume-les-Dames and then moved to the youth department of the professional club FC Sochaux . At Sochaux he made his debut in the first division during the 1989/90 season and was awarded at the end of the second division club FC Martigues . In Martigues he became a regular player and returned to Sochaux in 1991 with corresponding ambitions. Those in charge decided on a renewed loan and Piton played for the second division Red Star Paris for a year before finally returning to his club.

Subsequently, he was able to establish himself at Sochaux in the top French league. After relegation in 1995, he remained loyal to his club and remained loyal when he subsequently failed several times to get promoted again. However, when the coach did not continue to bet on Piton, he decided in 1997 to move to league rivals Chamois Niort .

At the side of Pascal Braud he took a regular position in central defense at Niort, as before in Sochaux. By 1999 committed Fabien Safanjon he lost the role, although one, but was still used regularly and remained loyal to the association. In the meantime, the player, who never made it to the top French league with Niort, occupied the position of team captain, although he was still in competition with Safanjon. In 2004, at the age of 33, after 84 first division games with four goals and 309 second division games with five goals, he decided to end his career.

He then continued his work in football as a player-coach of a lower-class club and then devoted himself to triathlon . Piton, who had remained in the Niort region, was appointed coordinator of the sport sector in the General Council of the Deux-Sèvres department in 2005 .
