Bernardo Prudencio Berro y Larrañaga (born April 28, 1803 in Montevideo , † February 19, 1868 ibid) was a Uruguayan politician and writer .

Life

The son Pedro Berros belonged to the Partido Nacional and was President of Uruguay from March 1, 1860 to March 1, 1864 . As early as 1852 he had exercised the office of head of state as part of a provisional government for a few weeks (February 15 to March 1). A year later he held the post of Foreign Minister for a short period (July 4 to September 24, 1853) .

On February 19, 1868 he was assassinated. His political adversary Venancio Flores was also killed by an assassin on the same day.
