Bern book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bernbuch is a deserted area in the Lower Franconian municipality of Castell in the Kitzingen district . The village was inhabited until the 14th century before the population migrated. The reasons for this are unclear.

Geographical location

Today's corridor Bernbuch, located in the Casteller district, is to the west of the village. The Rüdenhausen market area begins in the north . The foothills of the Steigerwald with the Kugelspielberg reach up to the former village. The community of Wiesenbronn lies further to the west . The corridor rises to a height of about 298 m already at the Steigerwald step, the village was therefore more exposed to climatic influences than its neighbors to the north.

history

The hamlet of Bernbuch is rarely mentioned in the sources. It first appeared in 1323. The village at that time consisted of only four farms. The house pits with material from the 14th century were uncovered during excavations in the 1960s. Knight Friedrich, called Colle, a fiefdom holder of the Counts of Castell , acquired the farmsteads of Count Friedrich V of Castell for his use on December 13, 1323.

In 1399, Bernbuch is only recorded as arable and meadow land. At that time, some castellers owned properties there. In 1467 Jorg Hoffmann from Wiesenbronn bought the moat "zu Bernbuch". In the 16th century, the arable land of the former settlement passed to owners from Castell, Greuth and Wiesenbronn. It is possible that the poor soil did not provide enough food for the population.
