Bernd Curt Kreplin

Bernd Curt Kreplin (born January 22, 1883 in Hamburg ; † November 15, 1941 in Leipzig ) was a German art historian .

Life

He was the son of the jeweler Albert Kreplin and his wife Josefine, geb. Meffert. After graduating from high school in 1903, he studied art history, history and philosophy at the University of Berlin . In autumn 1905 he moved to the University of Leipzig , where he received his doctorate under August Schmarsow on October 29, 1908. 1908/09 he was assistant to Arthur Haseloff in the preparation of his work The Buildings of Hohenstaufen in Lower Italy . From 1912 (Volume 6) until his death in 1941 (Volume 35) he was an employee of the editorial staff of the Thieme-Becker artist lexicon in Leipzig, for which he wrote numerous articles. His articles are often signed with his initials "BCK".
