Bernd Franke (lawyer)

Bernd Franke (born October 11, 1975 in Cologne ) is a German lawyer .

Life

Franke grew up in the Eifel and completed his school education there. After completing his military service in the German armed forces and completing a bank training at Commerzbank , he studied law at the University of Trier . From December 2003 to November 2006 Franke was a doctoral candidate at the Graduate School of Trier University and visiting scholar at the Department for Philosophy at Yale University . He received his doctorate with a thesis on slavery and bondage in natural law of the 17th century. After completing his legal traineeship, during which Franke was also a postdoc for Lloyd L. Weinreb at Harvard Law School , he joined Franke & Partner in 2008 as a lawyer and has been a partner since 2012.

At the same time, Franke took part in several NATO missions abroad by the Bundeswehr in Kosovo and was a. a. During the July riots and the customs conflict between Serbia and Kosovo adjutant and speechwriter for the commanding general of NATO in Kosovo (General Erhard Bühler ) and in 2013 deputy head of cabinet under General Halbauer . After working as a fellow at the Francois Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University, Franke has been an EU diplomat since February 2015. Since then he has campaigned for the international protection of ethnic minorities such as Roma, Askhali and Egyptians.

Services in Kosovo

During his activity as adjutant to the commanding general of NATO, Franke initiated together with General Bühler, the Kosovar Environment Minister Dardan Gashi , the Austrian ambassador couple Roswitha and Dr. Johann Brieger and the VierPfoten Foundation founded the Pristina Bear Park . The park includes an acclimatization enclosure with a size of several hundred square meters, various outdoor enclosures and a visitor center. Overall, the facility extends over fifteen hectares. Franke was recognized internationally for his achievements and was awarded the Kosovo Campaign Medal initiated by President Clinton by the armed forces of the United States.
