Bernd Poggemöller

Bernd Poggemöller (born September 4, 1966 in Herford ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and treasurer . He has been the mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Löhne since October 21, 2015 .

Life

From 1987 to 1990 he attended the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH) . From 1990 to 1991 he did his military service. From October 1991 he worked in the treasury and tax office of the city of Löhne and from 2011 was city treasurer.

He has been a member of the SPD since March 2013. He is married and has two children.

Mayor's office

On April 1, 2014, Poggemöller prevailed in a runoff election of the SPD Löhne for mayoral candidacy against his party competitor Stephan Klute with 40 to 13 votes. On December 1, the SPD delegates' assembly officially elected Poggemöller as candidate for mayor without a dissenting vote.

In the 2015 mayoral election in Löhne, which took place on September 13, he was elected with 55.05 percent of the valid votes with a turnout of 42.23 percent. He prevailed against Ricarda Hoffmann (CDU), who received 36.32 percent of the vote. He replaced his predecessor Heinz-Dieter Held (SPD), who was retiring.
